A New Transfer

Hello everyone!

We started a new set of 6 weeks here in Bayonne, and I have a new collegue! She just arrived from Provo this past week, and she’s so great! She is from Zwickau, Germany (the eastern side), and speaks great English and is in the process of learning both English and French. Her name is Soeur Röse. I love her a lot already! 🙂 Because german has a lot of french sounds, too, she already has a great french accent.

Most of the week, I was in Lyon, but we came back on Friday to Bayonne and commenced working.

We taught our ami, José, from Portugal. He is very sincere, and he loves coming to church, but he can not read portuguese or french and cannot really speak french. ¨But he understands it, which is great! And we have two members in our ward who speak portuguese, so we’ve been working a lot with them, and it has allowed us to create some good relationships.

He’s had a hard life, though. When he was younger, his dad abused him and his mother. And he never went to school, so that is why he can’t read.

After he prayed with us for the first time, he had tears in his eyes, and he said that he felt good. I think it was the first time in his life he had prayed. It helps me to know that the Holy Spirit is not bound by language barriers. I am thankful for it in situations like this.

I’ve been a little sick, so I think that’s why this email doesn’t flow as well, but I’m excited to improve and overcome it. In english, we use the word ‘get’ for everything. I’m trying to eliminate it from my vocabulary.

I love you all! Have a great 3rd day of Christmas! I hope you all find.. 3 geese a-laying? Is that the way it goes? If not, it would still be a good present, no?

Happy Hollydays!
